An Arkansas woman was arrested after brandishing a machete at two men she believed had burglarized her residence, police say.

Officers with the Jonesboro Police Department were en route shortly after 10:45 p.m. Wednesday to Race Crest apartments at 3513 Race St. in Jonesboro in reference to a residential burglary when another call came in next door regarding a fight with weapons.

A 24-year-old man said that he and another man he had picked up, known to him as “Big Homie,” had traveled to Race Street Market, which is just west of the apartments, according to a report.

When the two later pulled out of the store in a black GMC Yukon, a woman jumped over a privacy fence on the store’s east side, ran to the vehicle and began hitting the right rear window while yelling at “Big Homie,” police said.

That woman, later identified by authorities as 31-year-old Yazmin Martinez, then tried to shove a machete through a vented sunroof atop the vehicle, the report states.

An officer noted that the 24-year-old jumped out of his vehicle and confronted Martinez, prompting Martinez to swing the weapon at him.

The 24-year-old reportedly told her to stop and said that he “had nothing to do with the other guy,” referring to “Big Homie.”

While an officer spoke with the 24-year-old, two Hispanic females, including Martinez, approached, the report states.

Martinez accused the men of burglarizing her residence, telling authorities that “those were the guys who did it.”

Records show Martinez was arrested at the scene and booked into the Craighead County jail on charges of aggravated assault and first-degree criminal mischief. She was released around 10:35 a.m. Friday into the custody of federal immigration officials, a jail spokesman said.
