Little Rock police identified the North Little Rock man critically injured in an officer-involved shooting early Thursday as well as the two officers who shot him.

Officers were called around 12:15 a.m. to Squire Court Apartments at 5201 Geyer Springs Road, according to a news release. They were told a female victim inside the apartment was bleeding.

Police found 25-year-old Alexandria Goforth behind her apartment. Goforth told police that a man entered her apartment through the kitchen window, struck her with a board and cut her neck and stomach with a knife, the release said.

Goforth told police that the attacker also assaulted her with a broken table leg. Blood was inside the apartment as well as the weapons described by the 25-year-old, police said. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police were approached by several people in the area, one of whom said the attacker was hiding behind the Geyer Springs Church of Christ across the street from the apartment complex. Sgt. Zachary Farley and Officer Stephen Lichti went to the church at 6004 W. 53rd Street, the release said.

On the north side of the building, they found 22-year-old Jeromy Henderson of North Little Rock hiding behind some wooden pallets, the release said.

As the officers approached, Henderson “emerged quickly with his arms extended out as if he had a weapon,” the release said. He held a “dark colored object” in his hands, police said.

Both officers reportedly immediately fired their service weapons, striking Henderson multiple times. He fell to the ground and was taken into custody before being taken to UAMS for treatment.

A cellphone was recovered near him, the release said. No weapon was located.

Detectives responded to investigate the shooting. While it was initially reported that the victim had been sexually assaulted, it was determined that did not happen, police said.

Goforth had allowed Henderson to stay at her home, though they were not in a relationship, the release said. Henderson had been asked by management to leave the apartment complex the previous day.

Police detained another person for questioning and released him without charges, pending the outcome of the investigation.

Henderson is currently in critical but stable condition at UAMS and is expected to survive his injuries, the release said. Felony charges are pending, police said.

Farley was hired Feb. 19, 2001, and Lichti was hired Feb. 9, 2002, according to the release. Both were placed on administrative leave, per department policy.
