3 issues hit highs; index climbs 2.94

The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, rose 2.94 to 356.86 Friday.

Ten stocks advanced, seven declined and one was unchanged.

Deltic Timber, J.B. Hunt and USA Truck hit 52-week highs.

Dillard's shares gained 4.1 percent in heavy trading.

For the week, 13 stocks were up and five fell.

The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
