Work should soon begin on a $3 million renovation of the Chenal 9 theater complex at the Promenade at Chenal in Little Rock, acquired by AMC Theatres earlier this year.
The $3 million figure is the value of a building permit obtained earlier this month from the city to perform an "interior renovation of an existing nine-screen movie theater" at 17825 Chenal Parkway, the address of the Promenade at Chenal.
A spokesman for AMC, which acquired the theater from B&B Theatres of Gladstone, Mo., couldn't be reached for comment. Bethany Siems, marketing director for RED Development LLC, which manages the Promenade at Chenal, said she wasn't ready to discuss the project. The theaters are presently closed.
