Characters from the Marvel universe are all the rage these days. From big-screen films like Guardians of the Galaxy and Deadpool to ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., familiar comic characters are usually saving the day while seeming to have a pretty good time doing it. Albeit, there's often a lot of violence and carnage, but that seems to be what sells.

Now, the comic book series Marvel's Inhumans is set to premiere at 7 p.m. Friday on ABC. The series explores the adventures of the Inhumans, who were once test subjects of the Kree empire. The Kree wanted to create a powerful mutant race of soldiers for use against their enemies, the Skrulls. While they managed to create a strain of humanity with extraordinary abilities, they abandoned their experiment for reasons that are not yet clear.

The Inhumans went on to form a society in seclusion from the rest of humanity, where they developed advanced technology. This series features a "royal" family that includes Black Bolt (Anson Mount), Maximus (Iwan Rheon), Medusa (Serinda Swan), Gorgon (Eme Ikwuakor), Crystal (Isabelle Cornish), Karnak (Ken Leung), Auran (Sonya Balmores) and Triton (Mike Moh).
