2 die in plane crash at Arkansas airport, sheriff confirms

Authorities recovered two bodies from the wreckage of a plane that crashed Sunday evening at an Arkansas airport.

The Ouachita County sheriff said in a Facebook post that crews were called shortly before 6:45 p.m. to a crash at the Camden Municipal Airport. After the flames were extinguished, two bodies were found.

The Federal Aviation Administration has begun its investigation into the crash, the post said.

The identities of the two people who died have not been released. The bodies were set to be sent to the state Crime Laboratory, the sheriff's office said.

The National Transportation Safety Board on Monday is scheduled to investigate a fatal plane crash that happened Sunday at an Arkansas airport.

The crash at Camden Municipal Airport is believed to have left two people dead, airport commissioner Kyle Gatling said.

According to a Facebook post from the airport, the “pilot was well known to the pilots who fly out of there.”

Additional information was not immediately available Monday morning.

A person who answered the phone at the Ouachita County sheriff’s office declined to comment on the crash.
