A 20-year-old Arkansas man was charged with third-degree domestic battery after a dispute over cookies turned into a fistfight on Sunday, police said.

Demarces Demon Boyd told officers he "was upset with his brother ... because he had taken his cookies."

"Demarces stated he then struck [his brother] and they were both fist fighting," the report added.

The brother told investigators he had eaten some cookies "not knowing [they] belonged to" Boyd, the report said. Boyd "snatched his hand to take the cookies back" and later "pushed him and started punching him," the report added.

The siblings' father at one point walked into the room and saw Boyd on top of his brother, hitting him repeatedly, according to the report.

When officers arrived, they observed a contusion on Boyd’s right cheek and scratches across his chest. His brother reportedly had swelling on his nose and forehead.

Boyd was arrested and taken to the Pulaski County jail, where he was being held without bail Monday morning.

Jail records showed Boyd's first name as Demarcus. It wasn't clear which spelling was correct.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 5.
