Sheriff's office: While being dragged, deputy fires shot into vehicle in parking lot of central Arkansas restaurant

Authorities say an Arkansas sheriff’s deputy fired into a vehicle in a restaurant parking lot after it began dragging him Friday evening.

According to a news release from the Faulkner County sheriff’s office, the deputy responded about 7 p.m. to 283 Arkansas 365, the listed address for Taylors' Made Cafe, after a call about a possible drug deal in the eatery's parking lot.

At the scene, the deputy found two vehicles matching a description of those mentioned in the call and noticed what he believed to be drug paraphernalia in one.

As he spoke with the people inside, the driver began to pull away, dragging him with the vehicle, the release states.

The deputy then reportedly fired, missing the driver and passenger. The vehicle continued until it crashed into some parked vehicles, authorities said. The release stated no one was injured.

The sheriff’s office said the deputy has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.

A post on the restaurant's Facebook page says the eatery has "the entire incident on tape."

"We may be showing it live on the big screen soon so future thugs that decide to do unlawful activities in our parking lot will be aware they will be on camera," the post states.
