Police: Little Rock man, 66, arrested after accidentally shooting wife

A Little Rock man accidentally shot his wife late Monday, police said.

Roy Britton, 66, was arrested around 9:50 p.m. at his home in the 4100 block of west 12th Street on charges of second-degree domestic battery and possession of a firearm by certain persons, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

Authorities say Britton reported that the gun fell out of his waistband, causing it to hit the floor and shoot his wife, Deloris Britton, in her leg. No further information about the extent of the injury was immediately known.

According to the report, Roy Britton is a felon.

Britton remained at the Pulaski County jail as of Tuesday morning without bail, according to an online inmate roster. He has a court date set for Oct. 10.
