Arkansas man to serve 100 years for breaking into vehicles after violating parole

An Arkansas man was sentenced to 100 years in prison after breaking into 18 vehicles over the course of two months, records show.

Doriane Clentail Norton, 39, reportedly broke into the first vehicle in Texarkana on Aug. 17, 2015. By the end of September, court documents state, he had broken into 12 more.

On one occasion, he reportedly broke into six vehicles in a week. On another, three in one day.

By the time Texarkana police officers drove by Norton’s one-story house on Pecan Street in October, the man was a suspect in 18 vehicle break-ins. In an affidavit, the officers said they discovered one victim’s documents in the bushes and another’s golf clubs inside Norton’s home.

When the man appeared before a Miller County judge in May 2016, he faced up to six years in prison for each count of breaking and entering, records show.

The judge reportedly gave him 10 years probation.

Three months later, Norton was arrested on a breaking and entering charge, violating his probation. Records show that on Sept. 14, a judge ruled that he must serve a total of 100 years.

As of Tuesday, Norton had been at Miller County jail for 412 days.
