An Arkansas woman is accused of trying to suffocate her nearly 7-month-old child, police say.

Shannon Dalaine Heather, 31, of Conway faces a charge of criminal attempt to commit murder in the second-degree.

Officers with the Conway Police Department were called at 10:44 p.m. Friday to a residence in the 200 block of Club Lane in Conway, according to a report.

At the residence, Heather’s husband told authorities that his wife had tried to suffocate their child.

That prompted officers to search for Heather, who had traveled to another undisclosed location by that time, the report states.

Police said Heather was later found “not far” from the home and taken into custody after speaking with an officer.

Court records in Faulkner County show Heather has been convicted in the past of multiple misdemeanor offenses, including contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Heather remained at the Faulkner County jail as of Tuesday morning in lieu of $30,000 bond, according to an online inmate roster.
