Family: The art of being creative

Helping children tap into their creativity could just be the most important learning goal you can implement this year.

However, there’s increasing evidence that our children’s creativity is under threat. Children’s scores on the Torrance tests, the standard measurement of creative thinking, have fallen 20 percent since 1990. Experts blame everything from standardized testing to electronic screen-time overload. Compounding the problem is that many parents don’t feel able to help.

But parents can help their children to be more creative. Creativity can grow. It isn’t just genetically bestowed.
