Florida man's gift to aid UA students

FAYETTEVILLE -- A Florida man's $200,000 planned gift to the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville will establish two scholarships in honor of his parents.

The gift from Kevin Campbell, a Panama City Beach, Fla., businessman, will create the John O. Campbell Endowed Scholarship and Elizabeth Ann Campbell Endowed Scholarship.

Both awards will help students majoring in finance, with preference given to out-of-state students and those studying insurance.

Kevin Campbell earned a business degree from UA. He worked for his father, John Campbell, an insurance agent in Harrison, before starting his own workers' compensation insurance agency in Florida, The Campbell Agency, according to UA.

"Finance is a bedrock of business education, and many more students will now be afforded opportunities in finance and the insurance industry through the Campbell scholarships," Matt Waller, dean of UA's Sam M. Walton College of Business, said in a statement.
