Westbound I-40 reopens after wreck in central Arkansas

Westbound Interstate 40 has reopened after it was closed by a wreck involving a tractor-trailer.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation said shortly before 8 a.m. that the lanes were back open near Interstate 440, a little more than an hour after they were shut because of the crash.

The Arkansas Online live traffic map continued to show stalled traffic in the area at 8 a.m.

EARLIER:

The westbound lanes of Interstate 40 were shut down in part of Pulaski County Tuesday morning after a wreck, the Arkansas Department of Transportation said.

The agency said shortly before 7 a.m. that all westbound I-40 lanes were closed at Interstate 440 because of a crash.

Liz Chapman, a spokeswoman for the Arkansas State Police, said the crash involved at least one tractor-trailer.

No injuries were reported, Chapman said.

It was not immediately clear how long crews would remain on scene to clear the crash. The Arkansas Online live traffic map showed stalled conditions in the area as of around 7:10 a.m.
