A 61-year-old woman has been arrested in a hit-and-run that left a man seriously hurt last week in northeast Arkansas, police say.

Darlene Howard of Paragould faces charges of leaving the scene of an accident involving injury and first-degree battery, Sgt. Jack Hailey of the Paragould Police Department said.

Officers responded shortly after 5 p.m. Sept. 19 to a man, later identified as Ronald Pruett, lying in a ditch off North 11th Avenue near East Garland Street in Paragould.

Hailey noted that that Pruett was “conscious but in pretty rough shape.”

The victim was treated on scene and flown to a hospital and was in critical condition earlier this week, Hailey said. His exact condition was not known as of Wednesday.

Howard was booked around 11:40 p.m. Monday into the Greene County jail, where she remained as of Wednesday afternoon in lieu of $5,000 bond, records show.
