At least two people died in separate crashes on state roadways Monday and Tuesday, authorities said.
A 73-year-old woman was killed in a head-on crash that injured another driver about 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to a preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police.
Laura Chesser of Beech Grove was driving a 2013 Ford west on U.S. 412 in Greene County when a 2014 Dodge crossed the centerline and struck the Ford head-on, the report states. Both vehicles went into a ditch, state police said.
Chesser suffered fatal injuries. The Dodge's driver, 46-year-old Tammy Massey of Paragould, was injured and taken to Arkansas Methodist Medical Center in Paragould, according to the report.
On Monday, a 17-year-old girl was killed after the sports car she was driving traveled off a northeast Arkansas road and struck a culvert, authorities said.
The crash happened around 9:20 p.m. on South Caraway Road, according to a news release from the Jonesboro Police Department.
The teenager, whose name was not released, drove into oncoming traffic before losing control of her northbound Nissan 350Z.
The 17-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. No one else was reported hurt.
