Partygoers gathered around newspaper-covered tables centered with heaps of steaming potatoes, corn, crawfish and sausage on March 30 at War Memorial Stadium. The Heart of Our House hosted the crawfish boil with the goal of stocking the linen closet at Our House.
Members and guests gained entrance to the festivities by taking sheets, towels and pillows for use by the residents of the 93-bed shelter or by taking a new member.
This was the volunteer organization's first event for the year, which gave members a chance to reconnect while enjoying food and music.
The Heart of Our House is a service organization which partners with the Our House shelter through volunteering at the shelter and fundraising. Future events include a Back to School Drive for school supplies and partnering with the shelter's From Our House to Yours resale stores for a fashion show.
