Nucor’s $230M cold mill to start in 2019

Nucor Corp.’s $230 million specialty cold mill is scheduled to start up in the first half of 2019, a company spokesman said Wednesday.

Katherine Miller, public affairs and corporate communications for the company, made the disclosure ahead of a ceremony today at the Mississippi County operations for Nucor Steel-Arkansas.Gov. Asa Hutchinson will be among the dignitaries attending the event at 2 p.m. at the Nucor Steel Arkansas Pavilion, 7301 E. County Road 142 in Blytheville.

Nucor announced the new cold mill complex in September 2016 and said it would expand capacity for automotive grade steel. The expansion is expected to add about 100 jobs at an estimated average annual salary of $80,000, the company said.
