A Realtor and pastor from east Little Rock has announced that he will run for the Ward 1 position on the city Board of Directors in this fall's election.

Danny Lewis, 56, associate pastor at Healing Waters Ministry and chairman of the Governor's Mansion Area Advisory Committee, announced his candidacy this week.

The Ward 1 seat is currently held by Erma Hendrix, 87. She said Wednesday that she plans to run for re-election.

"If it is God's will, I will be on the ballot," she said.

Hendrix has held the seat since 2007.

Bryan Frazier, 42, owner of Capitol View Studio, has previously announced that he will seek election to the seat.

Lewis said in a news release that he has lived in Little Rock since he was 2 weeks old.

"In 2007, I moved from the East Side to the Capitol Zoning District. I missed my East Side home so much that I moved it and relocated 3 other houses downtown. My desire to make the world a better place moved me to become a firefighter and I served in that capacity for 10 years until a knee issue forced an early retirement.

"In the 90's, I began selling real estate and for the past 22 years; I continue to show people around Little Rock and help them choose the perfect home for their families. In 2011, I became an ordained minister in the Baptist faith to encourage others and make a difference in the lives of Arkansans," he said in the news release.

The Little Rock mayor position and Wards 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 and 7 seats are up for election Nov. 6.

City directors make $18,000 a year and serve four-year terms.
