Wrenn’s single leads Hooks to beat Naturals

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Stephen Wrenn hit a run-scoring single in the seventh inning, leading the Corpus Christi Hooks to a 5-2 win over the Northwest Arkansas Naturals on Thursday.

The single by Wrenn, part of a tworun inning, gave the Hooks a 3-2 lead before Taylor Jones hit an RBI single later in the inning.

The Hooks tacked on another run in the eighth when MylesStraw hit an RBI single, driving in Alex De Goti.

De Goti doubled twice and singled, scoring two runs for Corpus Christi.

Ralph Garza (2-0) got the win with 3 2/3 innings of scoreless, one-hit relief while Corey Ray (0-1) took the loss in the Texas League game.

Donnie Dewees singled three times for the Naturals.

With the win, Corpus Christi improved to 3-1 against NW Arkansas this season.
