36-year-old pedestrian dies after being stuck by vehicle on wet Arkansas road

A 36-year-old Colorado man was killed after he walked into an Arkansas road early Saturday and was struck by a vehicle, state police say.

The crash happened about 1 a.m. near the intersection of Red Wolf Boulevard and Stallings Lane in Jonesboro, which is south of the Arkansas State campus, according to a preliminary report.

Authorities said Charles Harley of Colorado Springs walked into Red Wolf Boulevard, also known as U.S. 49, and was hit by a 2012 Dodge headed north. The driver was not identified.

Harley "later succumbed to his injuries," the report states. State police reported it was raining at the time of the crash.

His death was one of 104 this year on Arkansas roads, according to preliminary state police data.
