Nats hold off Missions

SAN ANTONIO — Glenn Sparkman allowed just three hits over five innings, leading the Northwest Arkansas Naturals over the San Antonio Missions in a 3-2 win on Sunday.

Jake Newberry got River Stevens to fly out with a runner on first to end the game for his first save of the season.

Sparkman (1-1) picked up the win after he struck out six while allowing one run.

NW Arkansas went up 2-0 in the third after Salvador Pe-rez hit a solo home run.

After the teams traded runs, the Missions cut into the deficit in the ninth inning when Kyle Overstreet hit an RBI single, bringing home Ty France.

Jesse Scholtens (1-1) went six innings, allowing two runs and five hits while striking out six in the Texas League game.
