Job Fair

Approximately 50 businesses will have representatives on hand to engage an expected 2,000 job seekers at a Spring Job Fair, noon-6 p.m. today at the Statehouse Convention Center, Markham and Main streets, Little Rock. Human resources professionals will conduct, by appointment, mock interviews throughout the show to help job seekers perfect techniques, and resources association representatives will conduct (no appointment necessary) resume reviews. Hosts are the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and the Central Arkansas Human Resources Association; sponsor is the city of Little Rock. Admission is free. Jazz in the Park

Little Rock jazz/neo-soul/R&B group Off the Cuff performs for Jazz in the Park, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday in the History Pavilion, just west of the First Security Amphitheater in Little Rock's Riverfront Park (enter via Ottenheimer Drive off of President Clinton Avenue).

Admission is free. In case of rain, the concert will move to the River Market West Pavilion, behind the Ottenheimer Market Hall, 400 President Clinton Ave. Beer, wine, soft drinks and water will be sold, along with new Jazz in the Park koozies; a portion of the proceeds benefits Art Porter Music Education Inc.'s scholarship fund. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcome, and there is some seating in the natural stone amphitheater at the History Pavilion. No coolers are allowed.

Competition winners

Evelyn Brown, a second-grader at eStem Elementary School (Pulaski County), and Nicole Roush, a fifth-grade home-schooled student from Craighead County, are the winners in their respective age divisions in the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission's 2018 Great American Cleanup in Arkansas Youth Poster Contest.

Second place in the K-2 Division went to Ella Curry, a second-grader at eStem Elementary, with Avery Howard, a first-grader at Southside Elementary School in Lonoke County taking third.

In the (grades) 3-5 Division, second place went to Gabi Cotroneo, a fourth-grader at Northside Elementary School (Lonoke County) and third place to Sophia DellaCroce, a fifth-grader at McNair Middle School (Washington County).

Each division also had six honorable mentions. The contest, which was open to all elementary pupils statewide, attracted 206 entries from 32 schools and home-schoolers in 21 Arkansas counties.

All 18 posters will be on display through April 27 at the Thea Foundation Art Gallery, 401 Main St., North Little Rock, and on the organization's Facebook page, bit.ly/18YPC.
