Cats at the Castle supports sanctuary

Cats at the Castle guests will find "Where the Wild Things Are" at the seventh annual benefit for Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge on April 21 at Castle Rogue's Manor in Eureka Springs.

The nonprofit organization's mission is to "provide lifetime refuge for abandoned, abused and neglected big cats, with emphasis on tigers, lions, leopards and cougars," that make up most of the sanctuary's population. The sanctuary is also home to a dozen bears, a macaw, a white-nosed coatimundi and a rhesus macaque.

The sanctuary has nearly 60 natural habitats on 450 acres for its 92 animal residents.

The fundraising event will feature a gourmet dinner and desserts, a full bar, silent and live auctions and live music. Suggested attire for the evening is formal, animal print patterns (although no authentic animal products).

Turpentine Creek is open for public tours every day of the year, with the exception of Christmas. Educational offerings include summer day camps for 6- to 8- and 9- to 12-year olds.
