FASHION FOREVER!

Horace Mann alumni party at Passion style show benefit

Jazzy printed outfits, black-and-white ensembles, blinged-out looks and a movie tribute dominated the fifth annual Passion for Fashion Style Show, hosted by the Horace Mann Transitional Class of 1972 and taking place April 8 at the Carelink Center in Little Rock. The event was a benefit for the Edwin L. Hawkins Scholarship, awarded by the class to Little Rock-area high school graduates.

Light appetizers were served prior to the show, whose master of ceremonies was Lyndajo Jones-Watson. Scenes were given the monikers "Printed Matter Matters," "Black, White & Wow!" and "Sparkle of Twilight Zone." Another scene featured fashions by downtown Little Rock boutique Blackberry Molasses.

During a short intermission, Carl Vault, class president, presented an award of appreciation to immediate past president Fred Bledsoe. Earnest Tate, another past president, also offered comments. Then came the show finale, "Return of Wakanda," which featured African fashions and costumes based on the Marvel Comics blockbuster (and record-breaking) film Black Panther.

The Horace Mann Transitional Class of 1972 consists of would-be graduates of the former Horace Mann High School, which was closed due to the desegregation efforts of the Little Rock School District. The school now exists as Horace Mann Arts and Sciences Magnet Middle School.
