MIKE MASTERSON: A dentist speaks

By Mike Masterson

This article was published April 22, 2018 at 4:30 a.m.

My column last week on the disgraceful practice of Parkin police handing out expensive "inattentive driving" citations like Halloween candy to victimized motorists along U.S. 64 rang alarm bells statewide, including one from a Memphis dentist raised in nearby Wynne.

Damascus learned the hard way but this sounds worse. Many of these small communities operate like the Mafia with police and sheriff deputies whose only qualifications are a GED for maybe $10.00 an hour. An enterprising lawyer should mine this town for a class action suit.

Again, credit where it's due...Masterson puts out another good, useful column, with multiple examples and some added detail. Following yesterday's piece about Eureka Springs...could he be on a roll?

Why don't these thugs follow the law and they will not have anything to complain about. First dim bulbs then next thing major acts of terrorism...multiple dim bulbs.

As sea bass says just obey the law as law enforcement is beyond reproach. Guess if you complain you are against law enforcement. So this movement against local control with local police should be embarrassed attacking America.

Funny, change the demographics and setting & get a whole new perspective. After all Barney has a bullet locked and loaded

Not that I'll ever have any reason to go through Parkin or Earle, I will avoid that area like the plague. Thanks for the head up!

I travel through Parkin and Earle twice a day, 5 days a week. I have been pulled over 3 times for dim license plate bulbs. I always use my cruise control when inside the city limits. Everyone knows what's going on with these folks and I just hope that they get the full Damascus treatment. Mr. Charles, you might want to stand down on this one.
