Isn't Verizon arena a "for-profit" establishment? As much as they charge for their events, they should be able to supply their own equipment. Especially this year with as many events as they are having. It is nice to have Verizon arena, but I don't think tax dollars should be helping them make upgrades like a scoreboard - which is used how many times a year? One Razorback basketball game a year, one Harlem Globetrotter game a year, I guess they might use the timer during rodeo/bull riding events, and when else?????

This is an absolutely ridiculous expenditure.

RIDICULOUS a waste of my tax dollars. I will be calling those on the board who is wasting money on a scoreboard. If they want a new score board have Verizon raise the money from some where else.
here is a link to the board members information:

Verizon Arena is a county owned property, overseen by the Pulaski County Multi-Purpose Civic Center Facilities Board. The current scoreboard does not meet standards for conference type games. If the arena wants to attract any more major basketball games the scoreboard must be upgraded.
