Police identify man critically hurt in shooting in northeast Arkansas

Police in Jonesboro have identified the victim in Wednesday night’s shooting that left a man in critical condition.

Officers were called around 8:15 p.m. to a shots fired in the 800 block of South Caraway Road where a person, later identified as 20-year-old Devontae Dewayne Fowler of Jonesboro was said to have suffered a "serious" gunshot wound, according to a release from the city’s Police Department.

At the scene, investigators searched for evidence and worked to locate witnesses, the release states.

As of Thursday afternoon, the male victim was listed in “very serious” critical condition and is unconscious at a local hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
