Earnings report

Companies reporting quarterly earnings Thursday included:

American Airlines Group Inc., a profit of $186 million, or 39 cents a share, down from $340 million, or 67 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose nearly 6 percent to $10.4 billion. Shares fell $2.88 to close Thursday at $42.37.

PepsiCo Inc. the beverage and snacks maker, a profit of $1.34 billion, or 94 cents a share, up from $1.32 billion, or 91 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 4 percent to $12.56 billion. Shares rose $2.11 to $103.26.

Southwest Airlines, a profit of $463 million, or 79 cents a share, up from $399 million, or 55 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 2 percent to $4.94 billion. Shares fell 98 cents to close at $53.30.

Union Pacific Corp., the Omaha, Neb.-based railroad, a profit of $1.31 billion, or $1.68 a share, up from $1.07 billion, or $1.32 a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 7 percent to $5.48 billion. Shares fell $3.88 to $132.18

United Parcel Service Inc., a profit of $1.35 billion, or $1.55 a share, up from $1.17 billion, or $1.33 a share, a year ago. Revenue rose 10 percent to $17.11 billion. Shares rose $4.62 to close at $113.28.
