MUDBUG HEAVEN

A good time had by all, except for the crawfish

Lovers of all things south Louisiana had the chance to live it during what may be the biggest crawfish boil in the city -- the 14th annual CARTI Ragin' Cajun Bash, an authentic bayou-themed fundraiser held April 19 at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. The event benefits the patient-centered programs and services of CARTI, a nonprofit cancer-care provider.

Shrugging off temperatures that were actually more suited for Mardi Gras, guests gathered at reserved tables and, across the stadium, general-admission tables, to chow down on crawfish, corn, potatoes, hush puppies, Popeyes chicken, Mardi Gras cheesecake, red beans and rice with smoked sausage, jambalaya and dirty rice. Guests could purchase tickets for raffle baskets -- items donated by local businesses -- and partake in a Kendra Scott Jewelry pull. An online auction, whose bidders did not have to attend the event, featured a selection of trips to Costa Rica.

The Rodney Block Collective, and vocalist Bijoux, provided live entertainment -- including a second-line parade.
