Sheriff: Boy taken from Northwest Arkansas home found safe in Oklahoma hours after Amber Alert issued

9:30 P.M. UPDATE:

A 6-year-old boy who authorities said was taken by his non-custodial mother from a home in Northwest Arkansas has been located in Oklahoma.

The Washington County sheriff's office said Connor Roland Cannon was found safe in Adair County.

It wasn't immediately known if he was with his mother.

6 P.M. UPDATE:

Authorities say they have located a vehicle they believe was used to abduct 6-year-old Connor Roland Cannon, but he remains missing.

The Washington County sheriff's office said in a statement that the vehicle was found in Westville, Okla. and that investigators suspect Connor was taken by his "non-custodial mother," who the agency identified as 27-year-old Cathlina Cannon.

Arkansas State Police said the silver car was involved in a minor accident in Westville and that two female suspects and a child believed to be Connor left on foot heading south.

The search remains active, authorities said.

Westville is about 40 miles southwest of Sonora in eastern Oklahoma.

Authorities have issued an Amber Alert for a boy who was reported missing Saturday in Northwest Arkansas.

Arkansas State Police say Connor Roland Cannon's guardians ran outside and saw a gray or silver four-door sedan passenger driving away from their residence in Sonora in Washington County. That happened about 10 a.m., and Connor hasn't been seen since.

Connor is white, stands about 4 foot 2 inches tall and weighs about 65 pounds. He has blonde, short hair and blue eyes, and he was wearing a black sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and no shoes before he disappeared.
