It appears a decision from quarterback John Stephen Jones could come soon after his official visit to Arkansas.

The playmaking signal caller from Dallas Highland Park wrapped up his trip to Fayetteville around noon Sunday.

“It was incredible,” Jones said. “The facilities are second to none. It was just nice to get up here with all the coaches. I knew most of them already, but just to get up and spend some time with them.”

Jones, 5-10 1/2, 185, 4.6 seconds in the 40 yard dash, told the Dallas Morning News earlier in the week he was down to Arkansas, SMU and Texas Tech.

“Probably tomorrow or sometime today,” said Jones of his decision timeline.

He was asked if the Arkansas trip made his decision difficult or easier.

“I’m not sure which one it is,” Jones said. “It’s just going to be a tough one.”

Spending time with coach Chad Morris and offensive coordinator Joe Craddock was the best part of the visit, he said.

“I’ve known them for a little bit, but just getting up here, talking some football, talking about our personal lives is pretty cool,” Jones said.

Jones led Highland Park to its second consecutive Class 5A Division II state championship as a senior while completing 242 of 336 passes for 4,186 yards and 53 touchdowns while throwing only 3 interceptions. He rushed 103 times for 673 yards and 12 touchdowns as well.

He said there are similarities and differences in the offense he ran in high school and the one at Arkansas.

“Coach is going to make sure I fit in just right,” he said.

Part of the tour of the Arkansas campus included the academic center named after his grandfather and grandmother.

“It’s a nice place,” Jones said. “It definitely helps with all the student-athletes. It’s nice to walk in there every once in a while.”

His host for the weekend was redshirt freshman quarterback Jack Lindsey, the grandson of former Razorback great Jim Lindsey.

“Jack’s parents and grandparents are friends with my parents and grandparents, so it was nice to hang out with him,” Jones said.
