Gunman at North Little Rock school bus stop tries to steal shoes, threatens him, teen tells police

A would-be robber brandished a handgun at a teenager Monday morning as he was at a North Little Rock school bus stop, police said.

Around 7:40 a.m., an officer responded to a home in the 2400 block of East 2nd Street in reference to an attempted aggravated robbery.

The 17-year-old victim said he was waiting at a school bus stop in the 2400 block of East Washington Avenue when someone walked up and began trying to untie his shoes, according to a North Little Rock Police Department report.

When he tried to stand up, the would-be robber pushed him back down repeatedly and told him he was going to steal the shoes, the victim told authorities.

The stranger at one point pulled out a handgun, held it to the victim’s side and reportedly said, “Don’t make me shoot you,” the report states.

The victim said more people later came toward the bus stop, and he then ran home.

Police described the would-be robber a black man who stands about 6 feet tall and weighs 120 pounds. An 18-year-old suspect was named, though he had not been arrested at the time of the report.

No items were listed as stolen.
