70-year-old Arkansan dies in crash with 18-wheeler after his vehicle crosses highway's centerline

A 70-year-old Arkansan was killed after his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic on a highway and was hit by an 18-wheeler, according to state police.

The crash happened around 1:05 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Arkansas 86 and U.S. 63 in Slovak in Prairie County, authorities said in a preliminary report.

Ronald Wayne Dale, 70, of Hazen was traveling north on U.S. 63 in a 1995 Chevrolet when he crossed the centerline into the path of a southbound 2013 Peterbilt truck, according to authorities.

Dale was killed in the crash. Police reported no other injuries.

Conditions were said to be clear and dry at the time of the wreck.

The 70-year-old's death was one of at least 28 recorded in traffic crashes on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
