Body in home near Eureka Springs prompts homicide case

Authorities in Northwest Arkansas are investigating a man's death as a homicide after his body was found Thursday afternoon inside a home.

Deputies with the Carroll County sheriff's office were sent around 1 p.m. to a residence on County Road 116 near Eureka Springs, according to a news release.

Inside, authorities found the body of 37-year-old Christopher Alvard. His body was taken to the state Crime Laboratory for autopsy. Police didn't name a suspect.

No information on a cause of death was released, and police didn't name a suspect or possible motive in the case.

The Arkansas State Police said it was asked by the Carroll County Sheriff's Office to assist in the homicide investigation.
