Arkansas Tech's Brown sets GAC record

Junior guard Alex Brown set a single-game Great American Conference and school record with 12 three-pointers to help Arkansas Tech University beat Oklahoma Baptist 97-67 Saturday at Tucker Coliseum in Russellville.

Brown finished with 41 points and 10 rebounds for Arkansas Tech (15-8, 9-8 GAC), and his total points against Oklahoma Baptist (9-14, 6-11) tied for the sixth most in a single game in GAC history.

UAFS downs St. Edward's

Senior guard Ladarius Coleman scored a team-high 18 points, while senior guard Darrion Strong-Moore had 15 and senior guard DaVaunta Thomas had 14 as the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith beat St. Edward's 79-63 on Saturday in Fort Smith.

UAM tops SW Oklahoma State

The University of Arkansas at Monticello beat Southwestern Oklahoma State 87-82 Saturday afternoon at Steelman Fieldhouse in Monticello.

UAM senior point guard Karim Mawuenyega scored 29 points for the Boll Weevils (14-9, 9-8 Great American Conference), which jumped to a 16-point lead over Southwestern Oklahoma State (3-20, 1-16) during the second half.

Ouachita Baptist falls to SE Oklahoma State

Ouachita Baptist University lost 88-79 to Southeastern Oklahoma State (11-6, 12-10 Great American Conference) Saturday at Bill Vining Arena, despite 27 points from Wesley Franklin.

Ouachita Baptist (9-13, 7-10 GAC) has now lost two consecutive games.

Harding loses to Southern Nazarene

Harding University lost to Southern Nazarene 82-60 on Saturday at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House in Searcy.

Sophomore forward Adam Horn led the Bisons (4-18, 4-13 Great American Conference) with 12 points.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Harding beats Southern Nazarene

Harding senior forward Sydney Layrock had a game-high 18 points as the Bisons beat Southern Nazarene 62-44 Saturday at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House in Searcy.

The Bisons (12-13, 8-9 Great American Conference) are now in a three-way tie for fourth in the conference standings with five games remaining. Southern Nazarene fell to 7-14, 5-12.

Ouachita Baptist falls to SE Oklahoma State

Sophomore guard Chasidee Owens had 18 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists as Ouachita Baptist University lost 68-66 to Southeastern Oklahoma State on Saturday at Bill Vining Arena in Arkadelphia.

Ouachita Baptist (12-11, 8-9 GAC) was tied 48-48 with Southeastern Oklahoma State (10-12, 8-9) with 9:22 left in the game, but the Savage Storm went on a 9-1 run and the Tigers never came close again.

Arkansas Tech tops Oklahoma Baptist

Freshman guard Jayana Sanders scored a team-high 14 points to lead Arkansas Tech University to a 74-69 victory over Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday at the Tucker Coliseum in Russellville.

Arkansas Tech improved to 18-3, 14-3 in the GAC, and Oklahoma Baptist fell to 12-11, 7-10.

BASEBALL

Ozarks wins on walk-off HR

Senior outfielder Justin Crider hit a two-out, three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the University of the Ozarks an 8-7 victory over Berea College on Saturday at Lonnie R. Qualls Field.

Ozarks (4-0) swept Berea (0-4) in its opening weekend and will next host Hendrix at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
