Police have arrested a man accused of brandishing a knife in robberies at four Little Rock Dollar General stores, including a holdup reported over the weekend.

Canaan Aldridge, 19, of Little Rock was arrested shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday on five counts each of aggravated robbery and theft of property, records show.

According to a Little Rock Police Department report, Aldridge was stopped after a reported robbery around 9:45 a.m. that day at the discount chain’s location at 7710 Colonel Glenn Road.

In that holdup, the robber brandished a "2-foot-long knife" at the cash register and was able to take $324 in cash, witnesses said. He reportedly left when he saw Little Rock police officers.

Officers noted that Aldridge then hid in the loading dock area of a nearby business before being arrested.

Authorities said Aldridge faces charges in three other robberies at Dollar General stores, including two reported Feb. 5 and Jan. 25 at the 3500 John Barrow Road store. The Colonel Glenn Road location was also robbed Jan. 30.

According to another report, he is also accused of robbing Great American Wings, 6323 Colonel Glenn Road, on Jan. 20.

Aldridge remained at the Pulaski County jail as of Monday morning, and bail had not been set. He has a court date scheduled for Feb. 19.
