The owners of an Arkansas gas station were robbed at gunpoint Monday afternoon, police said.

The pair who own Valero, 3228 Central Ave. in Hot Springs, said they left the business about 12:30 p.m. with the store's deposits, according to a news release from the city's Police Department. The owners reportedly had $15,800 in cash.

Two assailants approached them with handguns and took the money, the release states.

An officer patrolling the area reportedly heard one of the victims scream, then saw a GMC Acadia speeding away. The officer chased the SUV until it stopped in the 100 block of Crawford Drive between Pro Signs and Graphics and Colton's Steak House, according to the release.

As he pulled up behind the Acadia, the officer said, he saw one individual flee on foot.

Police said they located one person in the area who matched the suspect description. He was identified Tuesday as 20-year-old Jamal Devon Brewer of Hot Springs.

Brewer had $5,295 in cash and bank deposit slips belonging to the victims, police said. He was arrested on charges of aggravated robbery, theft of property, failure to appear and fleeing. As of Tuesday morning, he was being held at the Garland County jail in lieu of bonds totaling $6,500.

The other robber had not been located by Tuesday morning, according to authorities.
