85-year-old woman killed after vehicle struck by tractor-trailer in Arkansas crash

An 85-year-old woman was killed Monday afternoon in a crash involving a tractor-trailer in south Arkansas, state police said.

The collision happened around 2:10 p.m. in the 7200 block of U.S. 167 South in El Dorado, according to a preliminary report.

Police said Dorothy Maxine Collins of Camden was traveling north on the highway in a 2006 Toyota when a northbound tractor-trailer hit the rear of her vehicle.

The Toyota came to a rest on the east side of U.S. 167, according to authorities.

Collins was pronounced dead at the scene. Another person was said to be hurt, though the report didn't specify which vehicle the person was in or the extent of the injuries.

Travel conditions at the time were described as clear and dry.

Collins’ death was one of at least 34 recorded so far this year on an Arkansas road, according to preliminary figures.
