'Behind the Big House'

Preserve Arkansas, in partnership with the Arkansas Humanities Council, the Black History Commission of Arkansas and Historic Arkansas Museum, offers a workshop titled "Behind the Big House," including live historical interpretations and lectures, exploring slave dwellings and the people who lived in them, 5:30-7:30 p.m. March 23 and 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. March 24 at Historic Arkansas Museum, 200 E. Third Street, Little Rock.

'Coloring' history

The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program is offering students free coloring books highlighting sites around the state listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Exploring Arkansas's Wonder: An Adventure in Historic Preservation includes the Jacob Wolf House in Norfork, the Louisiana Purchase Survey Marker in Lee County and the Rock Art Sites at Petit Jean State Park.
