A meteorologist of two years at Little Rock’s CBS affiliate has been named a permanent replacement for former THV 11 This Morning co-host Tom Brannon.

Mariel Ruiz, an Arlington, Texas native, joined KTHV in June 2016 as a meteorologist. She has recently appeared on the station’s weekday and Saturday morning shows.

Before joining KTHV, Ruiz worked in Midland, Texas, as a meteorologist for NBC affiliate KWES-TV in Odessa, Texas, and Telemundo, according to the station.

“She’s a great fit with our morning team and we expect Mariel’s commitment to community and weather to make a big impact,” KTHV General Manager Michael Caplan said.

Ruiz replaces Brannon, who departed the CBS affiliate in December for a job at Little Rock advertising agency Ron Sherman Productions.

She will work alongside THV 11 This Morning co-anchors Laura Monteverdi and Rob Evans.
