Report: Little Rock shooting that injured 20-year-old called accidental

A man transported shot Thursday night has been identified, and a police report states that an individual who took him to the hospital said the gunfire was accidental.

Officers responded around 7:20 p.m. to UAMS Medical Center on a report of a gunshot victim, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

The shooting happened about 20 minutes before in the 900 block of South Woodrow Street, police said.

In the emergency room, nurses told police that Bufford Robinson, 20, of Little Rock, was shot in the lower part of his body. He was said to be in stable condition at the time, but his condition was not known as of Friday.

Robinson was taken to the hospital by two people in a private vehicle, according to authorities.

The pair initially told police that their only involvement was transporting him. But in an interview with police, an 18-year-old said he had accidentally shot Robinson while unloading his handgun.

A bullet hole was found in the pair's vehicle, a silver 2005 Chevrolet Malibu, that was consistent with Robinson's injuries, officers noted.

The teen listed as a suspect did not appear in Pulaski County jail records as of Friday afternoon.
