A 38-year-old Arkansas woman reported missing a month ago was found dead Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
According to the Ashley County sheriff's office, an off-duty Arkansas Game and Fish wildlife officer discovered the body of Shannon Ridener near Beech Creek on U.S. Highway 63, which is south of Hermitage.
A spokesman for the agency said a person of interest has been taken into custody in connection with Ridener's death. No criminal charges have been filed as of Friday afternoon.
Her body was sent to the state Crime Laboratory to determine a cause of death, according to the spokesman.
