"Monica is a great coach," Rucker said of Elkins coach Monica Wells. "She always has her kids ready. Her kids are always going to play hard. We knew they were going to make a run, and we just had to withstand it."

A 3-pointer by Newhart stopped the Lady Elks' run. Payton Rucker connected from deep with 3:25 remaining in the third quarter to give Charleston a 12-point advantage.

The Lady Tigers hit 16-of-19 free throws down the stretch to secure the final score.
