A former Arkansas sheriff's deputy was sentenced Thursday to more than 12 years in prison on a charge of knowingly receiving child pornography, the El Dorado News-Times reported.

In 2016, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted authorities that images depicting child porn were uploaded to an online account. Arkansas State Police traced the phone number associated with the account to Justin Grant Crain, court records cited by the newspaper show.

At the time, Crain was a sergeant with the Union County sheriff's office, where he had worked for more than a year and a half, according to the News-Times. Before than, he reportedly was an officer with the El Dorado Police Department.

Further investigation revealed that Crain, now 38, had about 50 child-porn images on his cellphone and 850 additional images on electronic devices at his home, the newspaper reported.

Crain was arrested in June 2016 and terminated from the sheriff's office soon after, according to the News-Times. He pleaded guilty in March 2017.
