A 38-year-old Arkansas woman reported missing a month ago was found dead Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
An off-duty Game and Fish Commission wildlife officer discovered the body of Shannon Ridener near Beech Creek on U.S. 63, south of Hermitage, according to the Ashley County sheriff's office.
A spokesman for the agency said a person of interest had been taken into custody in Ridener's death. No criminal charges had been filed as of Friday afternoon.
Her body was sent to the state Crime Laboratory in Little Rock to determine a cause of death, the sheriff's office said.
