Feb. 20

Conway AARP Meeting

CONWAY — The Conway AARP Chapter will meet Tuesday at the Ola & John Hawks Senior Wellness & Activity Center, 705 E. Siebenmorgen Road, because the center will be closed Monday in observance of Presidents Day. Lunch will be at 11:30 a.m., followed by the meeting from 12:10-1 p.m. The speaker will be Derrick Flowers, an officer with the Conway Police Department and a school resource officer at Conway High School. Lunch tickets may be purchased at the door. All who are 50 or older are invited to attend and to become a member of the Conway AARP Chapter. Membership is $5 per year.

UCA Dixieland Jazz Band

CONWAY — The University of Central Arkansas Dixieland Jazz Band, under the direction of Jackie Lamar, professor of saxophone, will celebrate the sounds of Mardi Gras at 7 p.m. at the Faulkner County Library. The band performs in the traditional New Orleans style with banjo, tuba, drums, piano, sax, trumpet, trombone and clarinet. All library programs are free and open to the public. Three Days of Rain

CONWAY— The University of Central Arkansas Theatre students will perform Three Days of Rain at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and again March 1 and 2, and at 2 p.m. Saturday and March 3 in the Bridges/Larson Theatre in the Snow Fine Arts Building at UCA. The Pulitzer prize-nominated play by Richard Greenberg is directed by Chris Fritzges, UCA associate professor of theater. Wedding Etiquette Class

CONWAY — A wedding etiquette class will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon in the Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center at the University of Central Arkansas. Wedding etiquette can be overwhelming. Storytelling

CONWAY — Brother Norm Moyer, a member of the National Storytelling Network, will bring stories for adults and children to the Faulkner County Library at 2 p.m. Moyer tells folk tales, tall tales, legends, origin stories and fairy tales from around the world, usually with a lesson and always with humor. The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra Concert

HEBER SPRINGS — The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra will return to the Heber Springs Performing Arts Center for a concert at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students ages 18 and younger. Free Historic-Site Coloring Books

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, a division of the Department of Arkansas Heritage, is offering students free copies of a coloring book, Exploring Arkansas’s Wonder: An Adventure in Historic Preservation, that highlights sites around the state that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Adult Summer Softball Registration

RUSSELLVILLE — The Russellville Recreation and Parks Department will register teams for its Summer Adult Softball League, starting Feb. 26 and ending at 5 p.m. March 9. Cheers! Art Exhibit

CLINTON — Cheers! is the North Central Arkansas Artist League’s free original art exhibit at Ozark Health Medical Center on U.S. 65 on the south side of Clinton. On display until April 23, the collection includes 50 paintings by 11 local artists. Artwork is exhibited in the hallways, both upstairs near the cafeteria and downstairs in the outpatient wing. All paintings are for sale at prices ranging from $15 to $325. A portion of each sale will benefit projects by the Hospital Auxiliary. St. John Catholic School Registration

Lakes, Skies and Rivers Art Exhibit

CLINTON — Choctaw artist Joyce Hartmann has a new exhibit of 17 paintings titled Lakes, Skies and Rivers at First Security Bank, 112 Volunteers Parkway. The exhibit, which features some of the local natural beauty of Arkansas water and landscapes, is open to the public during regular business hours through March 19. Hartmann is a member and past president of the North Central Arkansas Artist League, a member of the Conway League of Artists and a Signature Member of the Mid-Southern Watercolorists. Painting With Jim

FAIRFIELD BAY — Painting With Jim will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon every Tuesday at the Fairfield Bay Community Education Center, 130 Village Lane, Suite 5E. The cost is $40 per session, and all materials will be provided. Students will learn the value of color and composition with a new subject each week, starting and completing an acrylic painting in the two-hour class. CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library has jewelry-making classes for beginners from 6-7 p.m. each Thursday. There is no charge for the classes, but students provide their own supplies or purchase kits in class. Free minor jewelry repair will be offered by the class instructor. Humane Society Benefit Bingo

GREENBRIER — Bingo, sponsored by the Humane Society of Faulkner County, takes place every third Friday at the Melton Cotton City Event Center, 5 Lois Lane. Yoga Class at the Library

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Coin Club meets the second Tuesday of each month at the Ola and John Hawks Senior Wellness and Activity Center, 705 E. Siebenmorgen Road.
