Sherwood center's fees go up March 1

Membership fees at the Bill Harmon Recreation Center in Sherwood will increase March 1, city parks officials announced.

Renewals and new memberships are available at current rates until the increase becomes effective. People can sign up at the front desk of the center at 51 Shelby Road.

The recreation center hasn't increased its fees since it opened in May 2002, Sherwood Parks and Recreation Director Sonny Janssen said. The center has extended its hours of operation over the years and in 2015 replaced all of its fitness equipment.

Monthly fees will increase by $4 for people ages 5-18 and 50 and over. The fees will go up by $6 a month for ages 19-49. Annual fees will increase by $24 for ages 5-18 and 50 and over, and by $48 for ages 19-49.

The new fees are $24 monthly and $144 annually for ages 5-18 and 50 and over; and $36 monthly and $288 annually for ages 19-49.

Fee information, center rental rates and hours are available by picking up a revised brochure at the center or by calling (501) 835-6893.
