A 17-year-old student was arrested Monday after the North Little Rock School District received its second threat via social media in four days, authorities said.

The threat was posted on Snapchat and referenced a message the district’s Facebook page received Friday that targeted North Little Rock High School as well as “the president,” North Little Rock police spokesman Amy Cooper said.

The teenage boy who posted Monday’s threat is charged with communicating a false alarm, according to a police report.

Superintendent Kelley Rodgers said he believed the Snapchat post was a “copycat” threat. Friday's threat, which is still under investigation, was not made by a district student, he said.

Also on Friday, a Facebook post with photos of multiple assault rifles was shared several times.

"I LOVE MY GUNS. TIME FOR ROUND 2 OF FLORIDA TODAY," the post reads. It was unclear when the post was originally made, or if it was from the same person who messaged the district that day.

Rodgers said those photos were pulled from elsewhere on the internet, and that it appeared similar threats had been made at other schools.

Still, he said, the district has increased police presence in the school neighborhoods and is considering safety measures such as searching students randomly both as they come into school and during the day.

Friday's post was at least the 10th threat to an Arkansas school that authorities have investigated in the days following Wednesday's shooting at a Florida high school that left 17 people dead.

Eight people, mostly minors, have been arrested as a result of these investigations, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette previously reported.
