An Arkansas couple remained jailed Wednesday, a week after their infant daughter was hospitalized with multiple fractures.

Charles Uribe, 28, and Crystal Uribe, 23, each face a charge of first-degree battery, the Texarkana Gazette reported. They were arrested last week and remained at the Miller County jail as of Wednesday.

Deputies with the Miller County sheriff’s office responded Feb. 14 to Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana in reference to a 1-month-old girl with multiple injuries, according to the newspaper.

Physicians told authorities that the infant had multiple fractures and had been flown to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock for treatment.

An examination concluded that the girl had also suffered injuries to her pelvic region as well as leg and possible skull abnormalities, according to the Gazette.

An investigation is ongoing. The infant's exact condition was not known Wednesday afternoon.
